Behind the Lines

Textures, I love them. What can I say. This sketch is about 7" x 10". I have been thinking about creating a series of drawings all titled "Behind the Lines". It could be represented in countless different ways, both literally and figuratively. I think I may have found my inspiration for a few more pieces.

This sketch was drawn on warm drawing paper with a variety of derwent drawing pencils. Pencil is my media of choice!

  1. I can certainly see why pencil is your favorite. The eyes and hair/fur are fabulous on the cattle. So glad I stopped by to take a peek.

  6. Your drawing have almost an atmosphere about them. I know that sounds odd, but they seem like they have another kind of air around them. Oh maybe I'm insane, but they do look special. And beautiful. Especially this guy. So pretty.

  9. There is just so much that is well done - textures, expression, composition, light - can feel the bone under forhead curls, and the hot breath from a soft nose behind that wire.
Looking forward to more in this series...

  11. Great picture. Behind the lines! I try to keep the fence out of pictures I take of the cows going by our house but the fence is almost always in the pic so I really enjoyed seeing you make it part of your picture.
